37 IT companies to migrate out of Hinjewadi in Maharashtra; raise concern
Because of the traffic bottleneck, over 37 businesses have moved out. According to information provided by the Hinjewadi Industrial Association, many more businesses are planning to relocate as well.
The population in Hinjewadi IT Park is increasing day by day. Thousands of employees from hundreds of IT companies, including major corporations like Infosys, Wipro, Tata, and Mahindra, are stuck in this traffic bottleneck nearly every day where they have to unfortunately waste one and a half to two and a half hours daily.
This will soon get worse in the monsoon season. Because of the traffic bottleneck, over 37 businesses have moved out. According to information provided by the Hinjewadi Industrial Association, many more businesses are planning to relocate as well.
About 150 businesses make up Hinjewadi IT Park and there are about 5 lakh employees in total. Additionally, around one lakh automobiles drive by each day. For an hour and a half to two hours, every car is on the road and hence fuel worth lakhs of rupees is wasted.
Uday Samant, Industry Minister, Maharashtra expressed that the migration of IT companies from Hinjewadi could worsen unemployment, a concern that has been echoed by the Hinjewadi Gram Panchayat. Currently, Bhujbal Chowk and Bhumkar Chowk are the only options for reaching Hinjewadi, but the upcoming Shivaji Nagar Metro line from Hinjewadi is expected to alleviate traffic issues. The Minister further urges the local administration to address this issue urgently.
The Metro station in Hinjewadi IT Park will be connected by SkyBus, and the work on the underground metro and ring road is expected to begin soon, as stated by Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. However, the end date and start date remain a significant question.
