Government Allocates Funds for Road Development in Arunachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved funds totaling Rs 6,728.33 crore for constructing eight sections of the NH-913, also known as the Frontier Highway, in Arunachal Pradesh. These sections cover a distance of 305.50 km and will be constructed using the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) mode.
Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, highlighted the significance of this initiative in improving connectivity to border areas and promoting socio-economic development. He mentioned that the construction of the Frontier Highway is expected to encourage settlement in Arunachal Pradesh’s border regions and reduce migration.
Furthermore, Gadkari stressed the importance of these highway segments in establishing essential road infrastructure, connecting major river basins, and facilitating the development of multiple hydropower projects in the state. He noted that this new route will link less populated Upper Arunachal areas, which hold significant potential for tourism, anticipating increased traffic due to the growth of this industry.
In addition to the project in Arunachal Pradesh, Gadkari announced that the ministry has sanctioned Rs 3,549.48 crore for various National Highways projects in Madhya Pradesh. This move underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to improving the country’s transportation network.
