Vistara flight operations were disrupted at Mumbai and Delhi airports, owing mostly to a lack of pilots reporting at work. Some flights were cancelled, while others were delayed at the two airports on March 6.

Further details could not be obtained immediately, and Vistara declined to comment.

The full-service airline performs about 300 flights each day with a fleet of 67 aircraft. According to multiple media reports, some pilots reported being sick, which disrupted the timetable. Also, pilots are concerned about the airline’s new compensation structure, which will be comparable to that of Air India.

The problem for pilots has been compounded by the yearly phenomena of crew exhausting their sick leave as the fiscal year comes to an end.

Flight delays and cancellations have recently been caused by traffic congestion at Mumbai’s airport as well as weather disturbances.

The Tata Group comprises Air India, Vistara, Air India Express, and AIX Connect.

Vistara is a joint venture between Tata and Singapore Airlines.
