The Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, announced plans to establish the Central Evidence Management Cell in Maharashtra
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the Central Evidence Management Cell (EMC), established under the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate, will be replicated in all police units across the state. This move aims to build public trust in the police system.
Fadnavis inaugurated the EMC at the Panvel tehsil police station on behalf of the Navi Mumbai police commissionerate, highlighting it as the first of its kind in the country to adhere to the new legal standards.
He emphasized the government’s efforts to update outdated laws, making them more relevant to modern society. Amendments to criminal laws and the Electronic Evidence Act now allow electronic digital evidence to be presented in court.
Fadnavis stressed that increasing the conviction rate to 50% from the previous 9% is crucial to instill fear of the law among criminals.
