The viral video shows Subham Matalia, 21, lying on the bonnet of the BMW as the teenager drove through traffic. The BMW is registered in the name of the teenager’s father, who has also been arrested by Kalyan Police.
Pedestrians and other drivers were shocked to see Matalia sitting on the bonnet with his legs spread out, seemingly enjoying the ride. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
This event follows closely on the heels of another high-profile case involving a 17-year-old boy in Pune, who was allegedly drunk and driving a Porsche that resulted in the death of two people. The boy, the son of a renowned builder in Pune, was initially granted bail within 15 hours of his detention, sparking public outrage.
The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) later sent the teenager to a remand home for 14 days, and his father has also been placed in police custody.
