Mumbai News: Thane man gets scammed by Tinder date and restaurant

A date turned into a nightmare for a Thane man after getting scammed by the girl and the restaurant.

The man, who went for a meal with his Tinder date at a restaurant named Hotel de Grandeur, ended up receiving a whopping bill of more than Rs 44,000.

The incident came to light after it was shared on Reddit with a picture of the hefty bill. As per the date on the bill, the incident took place on June 12.

The restaurant charged the man for 18 Jagerbombs, two Red Bulls, French fries, salted peanuts, four chocolate truffle cakes, and a special mix, totalling Rs 44,829.

After seeing the shocking bill, the man called the police, and the amount was reduced to Rs 4,000. However, he still had to pay Rs 40,000.

The Reddit user, known as “Rude-Interview-8393,” wrote in his post, “Guys, beware. Tinder scam. Posting the bill of one of the restaurants my friend went to on a date with a girl. Name of hotel: Hotel de Grandeur, Royal Plaza Building, Bhakti Park, Anand Nagar, Thane.”

The victim met the woman, who has been described as “like a model or something, very fair, very fit and beautiful”.

How did they meet?

The girl didn’t even send 3 messages and directly sent her WhatsApp number to the guy. The guy talked to her on the phone and she said to meet her directly without asking what he does, where he is from etc.,

He told her to meet her at his place as he was living alone but she denied it as she was from Delhi and she knew nothing about Mumbai and places, then told him to meet her at that place.
