To make it easier to reach Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), a major business hub, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has built a new road connecting the Eastern Express Highway to BKC. The 180-meter-long underpass, called the “BKC Connector,” is now ready and will open for traffic on Monday. This new route is expected to save commuters about 15 minutes of travel time.

Traffic congestion has been a major issue in BKC for years. To tackle this, projects like the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road and a dedicated road from the Eastern Freeway to BKC have been introduced. While these have improved connectivity, the growing number of vehicles has caused traffic jams, especially during rush hours on BKC’s internal roads.

The new connector links Plot No. C79 and Plot No. C80 in BKC’s G Block, connecting Avenue 5 (near the SEBI building) and Avenue 3 with a six-lane road. Built at a cost of ₹3.98 crore, it aims to ease traffic around busy areas like the MCA Club, consulates, and the MTNL Junction.

MMRDA officials believe the new road will greatly reduce internal traffic in BKC, making travel smoother for both commuters and drivers.

This project highlights MMRDA’s focus on improving infrastructure and traffic flow in Mumbai’s key commercial areas.
