ZTCC Achieves Record-Breaking Organ Donations in 2024

The Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC) in Pune has reached a new milestone by recording 70 deceased organ donations in 2024, breaking its previous record of 63 donations set in 2018 and 2019. Since its establishment in 2004, the center has facilitated 557 donations, saving 1,355 lives.

Government Hospitals Make a Mark

Public hospitals have played a significant role in this achievement, with seven donations coming from government-run facilities. Sassoon General Hospital facilitated one donation, while Command Hospital contributed six. This highlights the growing awareness and dedication of public healthcare institutions to organ donation.

Professionals Lead the Way

A notable feature of 2024 is the increasing involvement of professionals from various fields who pledged their organs:

• Media and Film Industry: Reporters and producers.
• Medical Field: Doctors.
• Aviation Industry: Pilots.

Their willingness to donate serves as an inspiring example for society.

20 Years of Saving Lives

Since 2004, ZTCC Pune has introduced life-saving initiatives like the Green Corridor, which ensures the fast and safe transport of organs. By the end of 2024, the center has facilitated 175 Green Corridors, helping save many lives.

ZTCC Pune expressed its gratitude to the doctors and coordinators who work tirelessly to counsel grieving families and support them through the donation process. Their compassion and efforts have transformed grief into hope, making organ donation a powerful act of humanity.
