The admission process under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, which reserves 25% of seats in private schools for children from economically weaker sections, will begin on Tuesday, January 14. Parents can apply online from January 14 to January 27.

This year, 8,849 schools across Maharashtra have registered for RTE admissions, offering a total of 1,08,961 seats. Pune district has the highest participation, with 951 schools offering 18,451 seats. Parents can apply through the RTE portal: https://student.maharashtra.gov.in/adm_portal.

Sharad Gosavi, Director of the Directorate of Primary Education, shared these details in a circular. Under the RTE Act, private schools provide free education to children from Class 1 to Class 8, and the government reimburses the fees.

The registration process for schools started on December 18 and was initially set to close by December 31 but was extended to January 4 due to fewer registrations. Now that schools are registered, the focus is on the online application phase, which many parents are eagerly awaiting.

This program continues to give underprivileged children across Maharashtra access to quality education.
