The Konkan Expressway, a major infrastructure project, is nearly complete and will transform travel between Mumbai and Goa. Once finished, it will reduce the journey time from 12 hours to just 6 hours. The expressway stretches for 376 kilometers along the beautiful Konkan coastline, with an additional 120 kilometers of road, bringing the total length to 498 kilometers.

Key Features:

  • The project includes 41 tunnels and 21 large bridges to navigate the tough terrain of the Konkan region.
  • The total cost of the expressway is estimated at Rs 68,000 crore, including land acquisition and infrastructure development.
  • It will pass through 232 villages in three districts: Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, covering 17 talukas.
  • The project began in 2011 and has faced various challenges but is now about 95% complete.

Once operational, the expressway will offer stunning views of the sea on one side and mountains on the other, making the journey both scenic and faster. It is expected to boost connectivity, tourism, and the local economy.

The Konkan Expressway will start in Panvel (Navi Mumbai) and end in Sindhudurg, connecting several key locations along the way. The improved route will significantly cut travel times and improve the overall travel experience for people heading between Mumbai and Goa.
