Doctor Accuses IndiGo of Negligence After Flight Meal Issue

Suvrankar Datta, a radiologist at AIIMS, has strongly criticized IndiGo Airlines for a poor experience on a recent flight from Bangalore to Delhi. He called the airline’s service “negligent” and “unprofessional” after a delay in receiving his pre-ordered meal.

Datta, who has borderline high blood sugar, had pre-ordered a sandwich for the flight, but despite multiple reminders, he did not receive it on time. He explained that he always pre-books his meals to avoid overeating or skipping meals. After takeoff, the crew told him his meal might be delayed due to an issue in Bangalore. Despite waiting patiently for 30 minutes, he did not receive any further updates.

As his condition worsened due to low blood sugar, a passenger offered him her sandwich. Feeling ignored, Datta turned on the emergency call light, but no one responded. This upset him even more, especially when the plane began its descent into Delhi and he still hadn’t received his meal.

Finally, over two hours after departure, the crew delivered his sandwich, but they made another mistake by giving him black coffee instead of the black tea he had ordered. By then, Datta was so weak from low blood sugar that he didn’t have the strength to complain.

Datta shared his experience online, stating that he had recorded all conversations with timestamps and was considering legal action to hold the airline accountable. He also encouraged others with similar issues to contact him.

IndiGo responded with an apology, promising to take necessary steps to improve their service and prevent similar issues in the future.
