Panvel – “Government Will Decide On Unified DCPR Soon”: Uday Samant
Uday Samant, the minister of industries and Raigad’s guardian, has guaranteed that the state government is in favour of applying the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations (UDCPR) in the NAINA region and that a decision on it will be made soon. In order to find out about their concerns and make sure the original homes are not disrupted, he has also given CIDCO the order to set up camps in each community.
The remarks were made by Samant at an all-party meeting he hosted at Konkan Bhavan to address the issues and worries brought up by the community regarding the State government’s Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) project, which consists of 174 villages spread over 371 sq km and situated within a 25-kilometer radius of the Navi Mumbai airport.
Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur, Uran MLA Mahesh Baldi, PWP leader MLC Jayant Patil, former MLC Balaram Patil, PWP leader J M Mhatre, Shiv Sena leader Baban Patil, and other government officials attended the meeting.
MLA Prashant Thakur said, “At the conference, we insisted that the state administration immediately implement UDCPR in the NAINA region. 23 villages now have interim development plans (IDPs) approved by the state government. Via a notification on September 16, 2022, the draft Development for the remaining communities has also been accepted.”
He added, “We told the minister that many of the problems and resistance will go away once UDCPR is implemented in the area.”
“We also requested that the minister make sure that CIDCO holds village-specific grievance redressal camps in places where the NAINA Town Planning Scheme (TPS) is being implemented. The villagers will have a chance to voice their opinions and discuss the issues they are currently dealing with. It will highlight the pressing problems that need to be resolved in order for NAINA to succeed.”
According to Thakur, Samant has guaranteed that the government is in favour of the request to apply UDCPR in NAINA and that a decision will be made shortly. “He also gave CIDCO instructions to respond to the demand of the NAINA villagers to hold camps in the villages to address their issues,” he said.
