Mumbai-Goa Travel Made Easier with New RoPAX Ferry
Traveling between Mumbai and Goa is about to get faster and more convenient with a new RoPAX ferry service by M2M Ferries. This ferry will carry both passengers and vehicles, making the journey smoother on one of India’s busiest routes.
Faster and More Comfortable Travel
M2M Ferries, known for its Mumbai-Mandwa Ro-Ro service, is bringing a 15-year-old RoPAX vessel from Italy. The ferry is currently being serviced in Mumbai and will start operating once it gets the required approvals. Once launched, it will complete the Mumbai-Goa trip in just 6.5 hours, a much faster alternative to road travel.
Planned Route and Expansion
According to Hindustan Times, the ferry will operate from Ferry Wharf in Mazgaon, Mumbai, to Mormugao Port in Goa. Discussions are also underway to add a stop at Panaji for better accessibility.
The ferry can accommodate 620 passengers and 60 cars, providing a spacious and comfortable journey.
Approval Process Underway
Shyam Jagannathan, Director General of Shipping, confirmed that M2M Ferries’ application is being reviewed. Chief Ship Surveyor Pradeep Sudhakar added that the required documents have been sent for final approval.
Boost to India’s Ferry Network
If approved, this service will strengthen India’s ferry transportation, joining routes like Gujarat’s Hazira-Ghogha ferry.
Additionally, Maharashtra is building new jetties for Ro-Ro services at Kashid, Revdanda, and Dighi along the Raigad coast, expected to be completed in 18 months. Plans are also in place to launch a Ro-Ro service connecting Dighi’s upcoming industrial hub.
A Scenic and Efficient Alternative
With the new Mumbai-Goa RoPAX ferry, travelers can look forward to a faster, more comfortable, and scenic way to travel compared to road and rail. As approvals move forward, this service could transform connectivity between Mumbai and Goa, making trips easier than ever!
