A recent survey has shown that more women in their mid-forties are now choosing adventure travel. The study, conducted by Aquaterra Adventures, analyzed responses from 10,000 women in major and smaller cities across India, revealing changing travel trends among Indian women.

Why Women Are Choosing Adventure Travel

More women aged 45 to 55 are exploring adventure trips as a way to discover themselves, grow personally, and break free from societal expectations. With more financial freedom, fewer family responsibilities, and extra free time, many are opting for solo trips or group adventures with like-minded travelers.

“Over the last 30 years, we’ve seen that 50% of adventure travelers are solo women. At this age, many have completed their family duties and feel ready to step out of their comfort zones,” said Vaibhav Kala, founder of Aquaterra Adventures India Pvt Ltd.

Safety and Companionship Are Key

Safety is still a big concern for solo female travelers, but many women now prefer to travel in groups with similar interests. They value companionship and shared experiences.

For women going through major life changes like divorce or personal loss, adventure travel offers a way to heal, reflect, and refresh.

Mountains Are the Top Choice

The survey found that most solo female travelers prefer mountain destinations. Some popular adventure spots include:
🔹 Dolomites, Italy
🔹 Manaslu Circuit, Nepal

This trend shows a growing interest in exploration, challenges, and connecting with nature.

As more women turn to adventure travel, the industry is expected to offer more women-friendly travel options, group tours, and safer experiences to meet this demand.
