Shah Rukh Khan Returns as Pathaan in ‘Pathaan 2’ for YRF Spy Universe
Fans of Shah Rukh Khan will be thrilled to hear that he’s making a comeback as Pathaan in the upcoming movie “Pathaan 2,” sooner than expected.
According to reports, Yash Raj Studios, led by Aditya Chopra, has finished writing the script for “Pathaan 2,” and filming is set to start by the end of 2024.
“Pathaan 2” will be the eighth movie in the YRF Spy Universe, which includes hits like “Ek Tha Tiger,” “Tiger Zinda Hai,” “War,” “Pathaan,” “Tiger 3,” “War 2,” and “Tiger Vs Pathaan.” Interestingly, “Pathaan 2” will come before the highly anticipated clash between “Tiger Vs Pathaan,” adding a new twist to the timeline of the YRF Spy Universe.
The decision to make “Pathaan 2” its own franchise within the Spy Universe came from the overwhelming demand from fans, especially after the massive success of the first “Pathaan” movie.
“Pathaan,” released in January 2023, crossed the impressive ₹1000 crore mark at the box office. It showcased Shah Rukh Khan as a dynamic R&AW agent leading the JOCR division in fighting terrorism. The film also starred Deepika Padukone as ISI agent Rubina, John Abraham as a soldier-turned-terrorist, and Dimple Kapadia in a special role.
A source revealed, “Pathaan 2 is going to be the main spy film that will set things up for a bigger conflict in the future. It will lay the groundwork for the significant showdown between Tiger and Pathaan in the upcoming ‘Tiger vs Pathaan’ movie.”
While Shah Rukh Khan hasn’t officially announced his next project, there are reports of him teaming up with his daughter Suhana Khan for “King.” Deepika Padukone is preparing for her next movie, “Kalki 2898 AD.” Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of “Pathaan 2” as the YRF Spy Universe continues to grow with exciting new developments.
