Mumbai-based YouTuber Nishmanya Bahadur recently finished an impressive 15-day solo road trip covering 6,000 kilometers across 13 states, exploring India’s Golden Quadrilateral.

Named ‘Atal Yatra,’ the journey honors the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s vision of connecting India through highways. Bahadur started from Mumbai’s Nariman Point at 7 am on February 12 to show people firsthand India’s changing road infrastructure. He wanted to encourage others to take similar trips, challenging the idea that solo road trips aren’t popular in India.

Driving a Tata Harrier, Bahadur carefully planned his route, passing through major cities like Ahmedabad, Ajmer, New Delhi, Kanpur, Bodh Gaya, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Chennai, Bengaluru, and back to Mumbai via Belagavi. He aimed to step out of his comfort zone and experience India’s diverse landscapes and cultures.

Bahadur’s journey had two goals: to take a significant road trip across the country and create content for his YouTube channel, where he’s a travel host. The Golden Quadrilateral project, marking its 25th anniversary, aligned perfectly with his plan, allowing him to showcase India’s excellent infrastructure.

Reflecting on his experience, Bahadur praised the government for fulfilling its promises in most parts of the country. Despite facing challenges, like extensive roadworks, he highlighted smooth stretches, including Ahmedabad, the section between Bhubaneshwar and Guntur, the Yamuna Expressway from Delhi to Agra, and the expressway between Agra and Lucknow.

Driving around 12-14 hours daily and covering roughly 500 kilometers each day, Bahadur admitted to moments of boredom but kept engaged by taking breaks, walking around, and listening to podcasts and audiobooks.

Bahadur’s expedition aims to highlight the economic importance of infrastructure projects like the Golden Quadrilateral, showing how they drive economic activities, promote regional development, and unite people across India.

The solo road trip concluded in Mumbai on February 26.
