Prime Video has released a nearly three-minute trailer for Sara Ali Khan’s political drama Ae Watan Mere Watan, which is based on the story of freedom fighter Usha Mehta. The film is set in pre-Independence Bombay in 1942, and it centres on Usha’s secret illegal underground radio station, which functioned for roughly three months during the Quit India Movement. The radio was used to broadcast recorded messages from Mahatma Gandhi and other significant figures in India. This occurred during the period when the British outlawed all amateur radio licences.

AE Watan Mere Watan’s trailer begins with a few brief glimpses of young Usha, who is motivated to battle for her country’s liberation. This is followed by an anxious crowd waiting for her radio’s debut transmission, which establishes the film’s main theme. The trailer highlights the significance of radio as a significant weapon against the British.

Sara’s brave character is depicted as being filled with patriotism, tenacity, drive, and defiance, as well as an unwavering desire to effect change. She is a firm believer that the British have harmed the Indians’ ability to think rationally, which was also emphasised in the conferences she attended.

However, her ordeals are not supported by her father (Sachin Khedekar), a British Raj judge who is plainly concerned about her daughter’s deeds, which could lead to trouble for him. Her concept is also mocked by what appears to be another student, who mocks her plan to promote independence through the use of pamphlets. She is also cautioned by a motherly figure that the ruthless British will not spare her if she maintains her behaviour. Despite the hostility and challenges, Usha remains determined to fight for independence.

The trailer highlights the tenacious spirit of the Indians, who fought the British and gave up everything, including their lives, for freedom. You can see the trailer here:
