After 35 Years, Tral Unfurls the National Flag on Republic Day, Embracing Peace and Unity
Tral, a town in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, saw its first Republic Day flag-raising ceremony in 35 years on January 26, 2025. The event was filled with patriotic songs and chants like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. PDP MLA Rafiq Naik joined nearly 1,000 attendees at the celebration.
Residents noted it was likely the first time the national flag was hoisted at Tral Chowk on Republic Day. The flag was raised by an elder, a young person, and a child, symbolizing unity across generations in their dedication to the country.
The event, secured by Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF, proceeded smoothly, showcasing collaboration between local communities and security forces.
Witnesses described it as a significant moment for Tral, once known for unrest, now embracing peace, progress, and national unity. The tricolour fluttered against snowy mountains, symbolizing Tral’s journey towards peace and development.
The ceremony was attended by Indian Army personnel and over 1,000 people, including many enthusiastic youth, who paid tribute to the flag and sang the national anthem.
