Ajay Devgn and Tabu have delivered multiple hits together on the big screen, but it’s their off-screen camaraderie that truly captures hearts. Having shared the screen in over ten films, their friendship has remained as strong and natural as their on-screen chemistry.
While promoting their recent release Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha—a film that didn’t quite hit the mark at the box office—their easy banter and lighthearted interactions once again stole the show.
A resurfaced throwback video from a promotional interview with Navodaya Times has recently gone viral, reminding fans of their delightful rapport. In the clip, Ajay is seen teasing Tabu about her relationship status. When asked what kind of partner would be ideal for her, Ajay cheekily replied, “Tabu ko main chahiye, usko wo mil nahi sakta” (Tabu wants me, but she can’t have me), leaving everyone in stitches.
Tabu reacted with mock shock and playfully nudged him, while Ajay clarified with a grin, “Matlab mere jaisa yaar. Mere jaisa aur koi duniya mein hai nahi” (I mean someone like me. But there’s no one else like me in the world).
With her signature wit and warmth, Tabu responded, “Exactly, main samajh gayi meri jaan” (Exactly, I got it, my dear), and affectionately kissed his hand. She went on to say, “Ye aise hain toh mujhe bardasht karte hain. Kuch aur hotey toh shayad bardasht nahi kar paate” (He puts up with me because he’s like this. Someone else probably wouldn’t have).
Reflecting on their personal journeys, she added with a smile, “Meri toh shaadi bhi nahi hui, tumne toh fir bhi shaadi kar li, bacche kar liye” (I never got married, while you settled down and had children), subtly highlighting how their lives have taken different paths.
Their bond dates back to the 1994 film Vijaypath, where audiences first witnessed their electric pairing. Since then, they’ve gone on to act in notable films like Thakshak, Drishyam, and Drishyam 2. Although they were once linked romantically in the rumor mill, today, fans admire them for their honest, long-standing friendship.
On the work front, Tabu will next be seen in Bhooth Bangla alongside Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. Ajay Devgn, who was last seen in Azaad, is gearing up for a busy slate including Raid 2, Son of Sardaar 2, and De De Pyaar De 2.
