Amazon, the popular online shopping platform, is gearing up to enter India’s fast delivery market, taking on competitors like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, Flipkart Minutes, and BigBasket. Samir Kumar, Amazon India’s Country Manager, announced on December 10 that the company will soon launch its quick delivery service, starting with a trial in Bengaluru later this month. Although the service was rumored to be called “Tez,” the final name is yet to be decided.

“We’re starting a pilot program to deliver daily essentials to customers in 15 minutes or less,” Kumar said during Amazon’s Smbhav event in Delhi.

He explained that Amazon’s focus has always been on offering “selection, value, and convenience,” and the goal is to build a large and profitable business in India. The company aims to provide the widest range of products at the fastest speeds and best prices, reaching customers in every corner of the country.

This initiative is the first major launch under Kumar’s leadership since he took over from Manish Tiwary two months ago. Reports suggest that Amazon has been working on this project for months, responding to the growing demand for quicker deliveries among Indian consumers.

More shoppers are now using quick delivery platforms instead of waiting 1-2 days for their orders. This shift is pushing e-commerce giants like Flipkart and Amazon to adapt by offering their own rapid delivery services.

“Our millions of customers, including Prime Members, trust us and will appreciate this added convenience,” Kumar said, emphasizing Amazon’s existing customer base as an advantage.
