It is going to be a long weekend due to national holidays and festivals. However, if you want to visit a bank for some financial work this week, then you must plan it accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)’s bank holiday list 2024, between August 15 and August 19, banks will remain closed for three days — August 15 (Independence Day), August 18 (Sunday), and August 19 (Raksha Bandhan).

If you are planning to go to the bank for cheque-related work, large transactions, KYC, or any other trivia work, it is suggested that you should do it within these three days.

Moreover, it is likely that ATM services will also be affected.

The RBI sorts holidays in three categories: national celebrations, state-specific holidays, and religious holidays.

State-wide List of Bank Holidays in August 2024:

August 13: Banks to remain closed in Manipur on account of ‘Patriot’s Day’.

August 15: All banks in India across states will be closed on account of Independence Day.

August 19: Banks will remain closed in Tripura, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh.

August 20: Banks will be closed in Kerala on account of ‘Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi’.

August 26: Banks are closed in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh and Srinagar.

Therefore, customers are advised to plan their bank visits accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

However, you can still undertake transactions and manage other banking tasks despite bank holidays through online banking and ATMs. These facilities will not be affected by the bank closures. During this period, you can perform many mobile or net banking activities, as all online services will remain fully operational.
