Bengaluru Man Sips Tea in Middle of Busy Road, Lands in Police Custody
Bengaluru, April 18 — A man has been arrested by Bengaluru police after a video of him calmly sipping tea while seated on a plastic chair in the middle of a busy city road went viral on social media.
The video, recorded on April 12, shows the man appearing completely unbothered by the flow of fast-moving traffic, including autorickshaws, motorcycles, and cars, all passing within inches of him. The peculiar scene resembled a casual tea break in a living room—except it unfolded amid chaotic city traffic.
While the exact location of the incident has not yet been confirmed, the video caught the attention of the Bengaluru City Police, who shared the footage on social media with a caption that read: “Taking tea time to the traffic line will brew you a hefty fine, not fame !!! BEWARE BCP is watching you.”

The SJ Park Police tracked down the individual and placed him under arrest. A case has been registered against him, although details of the specific charges have not been disclosed at this time.
Authorities issued a warning to the public, emphasizing that performing stunts on roads is both illegal and dangerous, posing serious risks to the individual as well as other road users.
The video sparked widespread reactions online. Many users expressed outrage over the man’s disregard for public safety.
“Sir! Please don’t give him station bail and release him in a few hours. Set an example—punish him and put him behind bars,” one user commented.
Others used the opportunity to raise concerns about local traffic issues. “Please take strict action on speeding bikers in Basaveshwara Nagar. Parking is also a mess—half the road is blocked. Pedestrians are really struggling,” another wrote.
One comment questioned the procedural integrity of the police complaint, stating: “The complaint letter says the person is ‘unknown.’ How can that be, when he’s already in custody? His name should be recorded properly.”
Police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining road safety and have urged citizens not to engage in reckless or attention-seeking behavior on public roads.
