Chandigarh – A Chandigarh police constable, Ajay Kundu, has been suspended after a viral video of his wife, Jyoti Kundu, dancing on a zebra crossing in the middle of a busy road led to a major traffic disruption.

The incident took place on March 22, when Jyoti was filmed dancing to a Haryanvi song while vehicles came to a standstill around her. The video, recorded by her sister-in-law Pooja, ignored the traffic situation, leading to chaos and safety concerns.

Authorities were alerted after an informant flagged the video online, highlighting the dangers posed by the stunt. A police team, led by ASI Baljit Singh, reviewed CCTV footage from key locations, including Gurudwara Chowk and the Police Control Room. The footage confirmed the traffic obstruction caused by Jyoti’s actions.

Following the investigation, an FIR was registered under Sections 125, 292, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), holding Jyoti and Pooja responsible for obstructing traffic and endangering public safety.

As a consequence, constable Ajay Kundu was suspended from duty. Authorities have reiterated the importance of following traffic laws and warned against such reckless behavior.
