A meeting was held to discuss the verification of applications for the ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ scheme, led by the Chief Minister. Aditi Tatkare, the former Minister of Women and Child Development in Maharashtra, confirmed that the scheme’s criteria will stay the same, and no decision has been made about the application verification process yet.

She also clarified that women will receive the sixth installment of ₹1,500. There had been confusion about a ₹2,100 payment, but for now, ₹1,500 will be deposited into women’s accounts. The remaining ₹2,100 will be transferred once the final state budget is approved, so women will need to wait a little longer.

However, a significant update regarding the sixth installment of the scheme has raised concerns. It was announced that the applications will be re-evaluated, and many women may see their applications rejected. Women whose applications don’t meet the criteria will not receive any benefits from the scheme.

To be eligible for the Ladki Bahin scheme, women must meet the following conditions:

  • Households with a four-wheeler vehicle will not qualify, but tractors are not included in this rule.
  • Women from families with an annual income over ₹2.5 lakh will not be eligible for benefits.
