Comedian Kapil Sharma appears at ED office. Read here for details.
Comedian Kapil Sharma, who has made his name in the country and the world, has to appear in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office.
ED said that car designer Dilip Chhabria, accused of defrauding several celebrities, did not deliver a vanity van which was ordered by Kapil Sharma. Kapil Sharma alleged that an attempt was made to frame him after the vehicle was not delivered. Kapil Sharma also said that Chhabria did not deliver the vehicle and tried to extort money.
The Enforcement Directorate has also recorded the statement of comedian Kapil Sharma’s official representative Mohammad Hamid as part of the charge sheet filed against Chhabria in the case. A special court hearing the case took cognizance of the chargesheet on Wednesday and issued summons to Chhabria and six other accused in the case. All of them have been asked to appear in court on February 26.
The ED’s case is based on three FIRs filed against the accused. This also includes the cheating case filed by Kapil Sharma. In a statement to ED, the comedian-turned-actor’s representative said that K9 Productions owner Kapil Sharma had approached Chhabria in December 2016 to buy a vanity van. Following this, in March 2017, a contract worth Rs 4.5 crore was also signed between K9 Productions and Dilip Chhabria Design Private Limited (DCDPL) for the delivery of Vanity Vans.
As per the terms of the contract, Rs 5.31 crore (including taxes) was paid by Kapil Sharma’s production house. Kapil Sharma’s representative said that DCDPL did not provide a vanity van to Kapil Sharma and did not return the money. It has also been said that more money was demanded by putting the fault of vehicle delivery on Sharma’s head.
