Contractors Missed Deadline: Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole’s Stern Warning on Pune University Flyover Project
On-foot inspection reveals significant delays and public safety concerns

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Siddharth Shirole conducted an on-foot inspection on Monday of the ongoing Shivaji Nagar-Hinjewadi Metro and Pune University flyover work. This critical infrastructure project, spanning from the Civil Court to Pashan Road, has faced prolonged delays over the past couple of years. Shirole was joined by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Yogesh Mhase, Additional Commissioner of Pune Police Manoj Patil and other officials from various departments, contractors and agencies involved in the project.

During the inspection, Shirole and the accompanying officials conducted a thorough assessment of the project. They identified several significant failures on the part of the administration and contractors concerning public safety, public convenience and adherence to project timelines.
“The contractors have missed the deadline for the completion of the road, which is unacceptable,” Shirole stated. He emphasized that as an MLA and in coordination with the new commissioner of PMRDA, he gathered feedback from all parties involved. He has issued a stern warning to the contractors. Immediate action is required to address the issues of public safety and convenience.
Shirole stressed the critical nature of the project for Pune, highlighting its importance as a lifeline for the city. He underscored the need to eradicate all inconveniences related to traffic and public safety without further delay. To ensure transparency and maintain public trust, Shirole emphasized the importance of open and clear communication with the citizens about the project’s progress and any potential disruptions.
“The public’s trust and convenience are paramount,” Shirole noted. “It is imperative that the contractors and agencies involved take their responsibilities seriously and expedite the completion of this project.”
