Fake News Alert: ECI Flags Fake WhatsApp Message Regarding Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Schedule
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has reported a false WhatsApp message containing the timetable for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The ECI took to its official account on social media site X to offer information about the bogus statement, as well as to clarify that no dates have been released yet.
Taking to X ECI posted, “A fake message is being shared on Whats app regarding schedule for #LokSabhaElections2024 #FactCheck: The message is #Fake. No dates have been announced so far by #ECI. Election Schedule is announced by the Commission through a press conference.”

It is expected that ECI may announce the election schedule in mid-March.
As a result, the model code of conduct (MCC) will go into force once the ECI makes the announcement. ECI teams have visited various states and met with Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) to assess poll preparedness. ECI experts are now visiting Tamil Nadu to assess the state machinery’s election preparations.
