Travel times between Mumbai, Pune, and Nashik are set to improve as two major road projects near completion. The final 76-kilometer stretch of the Samruddhi Mahamarg, connecting Igatpuri to Amane (near Bhiwandi), is expected to open in the next few days. Meanwhile, the Mumbai-Pune Missing Link project is also nearing completion and is set to be inaugurated in August. These projects will improve connectivity and reduce traffic on busy routes.

Benefits of the Samruddhi Mahamarg Expansion

The completion of this final stretch will make travel between Mumbai and Nashik much easier. This section includes five tunnels and 16 bridges, making it an impressive engineering achievement. Once open, the improved highway will:
✔️ Reduce travel time between major cities.
✔️ Ease congestion on the Mumbai-Nashik highway.
✔️ Boost Maharashtra’s economy by improving transport for farmers and businesses.

Right now, travelers from Mumbai to Igatpuri must use the old Mumbai-Nashik highway before switching to the expressway. With this new stretch, they can avoid the traffic-heavy Kasara Ghat, making their journey smoother and faster.

Samruddhi Mahamarg: A Major Connectivity Boost

The 701-kilometer-long Samruddhi Mahamarg connects Nagpur, Aurangabad, Nashik, and Mumbai, reducing travel time across Maharashtra. It is expected to benefit both passengers and businesses, making transportation more efficient.

Opening Timeline

Final safety measures, like crash barriers and signboards, are being installed. The entire project is expected to be ready by March 15, with the final stretch opening between mid and late March. This long-awaited development will transform travel and boost economic growth across Maharashtra.
