Father, son duo dies by suicide on railway tracks in Bhayandar

The deceased have been identified as Harish Mehta (60) and Jai Mehta (33). They are residents of Vasai.

In a heart wrenching incident, which was captured on camera, a father and son duo committed suicide by lying on tracks in front of a running local train near Bhayandar railway station.

The incident took place on Monday morning, July 8, around 9.30 am. The deceased have been identified as Harish Mehta (60) and Jai Mehta (33). They are residents of Vasai.

The footage shows them talking and walking on the platform going towards the Churchgate end. They were holding hands and lying on the tracks after seeing the approaching train.

The train had just left the Bhayandar railway station and was picking up speed when the motorman tried to slow down, but it was too late, and the victims were run over.

Police on Tuesday, July 9, said that they have registered a case of accidental death. Moreover, the Vasai Railway Police is investigating into why the duo committed suicide as they have not found any suicide note on the bodies of the victims.
