Gautam Gambhir Receives Death Threat from ‘ISIS Kashmir’, Security Heightened
New Delhi, April 24: Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir has received a death threat from a group identifying itself as ‘ISIS Kashmir’, following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The former BJP MP lodged a formal complaint with Delhi Police on Wednesday, requesting enhanced security for his family.
According to ANI, Gambhir, who had recently returned from a family holiday in France, expressed his concerns after receiving the threatening message. The threat follows his public condemnation of the Pahalgam attack, where he expressed his grief and warned that those responsible “will pay” and that “India will strike.”
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and have reportedly increased security measures around Gambhir’s residence. The threat comes amid a period of heightened national security concerns following the deadly attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in 28 civilian deaths.
Gambhir, who took over as the head coach of the Indian cricket team in July last year, faced a challenging start with losses to Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Australia. However, he turned things around with an unbeaten Champions Trophy campaign, culminating in a victory over New Zealand in the final.
The ongoing IPL 2025 season is currently providing Gambhir with a break from his coaching duties, during which he had traveled abroad. The latest threat highlights the growing security concerns faced by prominent public figures in India amid rising terror threats.
