India Gears Up for 76th Republic Day: Celebrating 'Swarnim Bharat' with Heritage and Progress

As January 26, 2025, approaches, India is gearing up for the Republic Day celebrations. The highlight of the event will be the grand Republic Day Parade held on Kartavya Path near India Gate in New Delhi.

The parade, which stretches from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, will feature marching contingents from the Indian Armed Forces and paramilitary forces. It will also include colorful displays (tableaux) from various states, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage. Republic Day is celebrated every year to remember the adoption of the Indian Constitution on January 26, 1950.

On this day, India became a democratic republic. The first Republic Day was celebrated on January 26, 1951. This year marks 75 years since the Constitution was adopted, making it a significant milestone in India’s history. On January 26, 2025, India will celebrate its 76th Republic Day.

The theme for this year’s celebrations is ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’ (Golden India: Heritage and Progress). Each year, the government chooses a theme, and this year’s focus is on India’s rich heritage and its journey of growth and development.

For the 2025 celebrations, tableaux from 15 states and union territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh, will be part of the parade. In addition, 11 groups from the central government will also participate in the event.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2025.
