Due to the bad weather conditions and the ongoing dust storm grappling the city, Indigo airlines has issued a travel advisory to all its passengers. The X (formerly Twitter) post reads, “The dust storm has returned, this time over Mumbai. Potential air traffic congestion is expected, so keep a tab on your flight status. Plan your journey to the airport accordingly and have a safe trip.”

Mumbai experienced its initial rainfall of the season, accompanied by a significant dust storm that darkened the sky around 3 pm today. While the rain provided relief from the heat for residents of Mumbai and nearby areas, the metropolitan skyline was enveloped by dusty winds. The abrupt weather shift caused traffic to halt as commuters sought shelter during the storm.

Strong winds and rain were observed in areas such as Ghatkopar, Bandra Kurla and Dharavi in Mumbai. Officials reported that landing and take-off operations at Mumbai airport, one of the busiest in the country, were temporarily halted. Operations resumed at 5:03 pm, with the airport recording 15 flight diversions during the storm. Last week, the Mumbai Airport successfully completed its pre-monsoon runway maintenance, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of aircrafts.
