Infosys Job Scam Inspired by Tamil Film ‘Dragon’: Telangana Man Faces Legal Heat After Impersonation Stunt
Bengaluru, April 25, 2025 — In a dramatic case that seems ripped straight from the script of the Tamil film Dragon, a tech job aspirant from Telangana has landed in serious legal trouble after allegedly using a proxy to secure a job at Infosys.
Rapa Sai Prashanth, a man in his twenties, is now absconding after being accused of impersonation and fraud. The twist? He allegedly sent a friend—who had stronger communication skills—to attend his virtual job interview with Infosys.
Police reports state that Prashanth applied for the position through a recruitment agency. While all submitted documents were authentic and in his name, he never personally appeared for the interview. Instead, he orchestrated a switch, having his friend impersonate him in the online assessment. The friend managed to clear the interview, leading to Prashanth’s appointment. He officially joined Infosys on January 20, 2025.
However, the deception began to unravel within just two weeks. Infosys employees noticed inconsistencies between the interviewee and the individual who reported to work—particularly in language fluency and communication style. A review of interview screenshots exposed the impersonation.
Upon being confronted, Prashanth confessed to the ruse. Infosys promptly terminated his employment and filed a complaint with Adugodi police. Authorities have now booked him under the Information Technology Act as well as Sections 318 and 319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for impersonation and cheating.
In a brazen twist, Prashanth reportedly demanded payment for the 15 days he had worked before being caught. He is believed to have fled to Hyderabad and remains on the run. “Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused,” said an officer involved in the investigation.
The incident has triggered widespread conversation in tech circles and on social media, with many drawing comparisons to Dragon, in which a character pulls a similar stunt to bypass job qualification hurdles.
The recruitment agency involved has yet to issue a statement, citing the ongoing investigation.
