In comparison, Alphabet’s CEO Sundar Pichai, another well-known Indian-origin executive, earns ₹1663 crore annually as of April 2023, with perks pushing his total to ₹1854 crore, or approximately ₹5 crore per day.
Singh is the founder of QuantumScape, established in 2010, which specializes in next-generation solid-state batteries aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing electric vehicle (EV) charging times. Under his leadership, QuantumScape has revolutionized the EV industry, with investors such as Volkswagen and Bill Gates backing the company.
Before founding QuantumScape, Singh held various leadership positions for over a decade. He holds a B.Tech from Stanford University and an MBA from the University of California.
Reports suggest that Singh’s compensation package includes stock options valued at ₹19,000 crore ($2.3 billion). However, Singh announced that he would step down as QuantumScape’s CEO on February 16, 2024, passing the leadership baton to Shiv Shivram.
