Kapoor Family Meets PM Modi to Celebrate Raj Kapoor’s 100th Birth Anniversary with Nationwide Film Festival
The Kapoor family, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Karisma Kapoor, and Neetu Kapoor, recently visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi. The meeting was held to invite him to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor. To honor his legacy, the family is organizing a nationwide screening of his most iconic films.
Kareena Kapoor Khan shared photos from the event on Instagram. One image shows the Kapoor family with Prime Minister Modi, while others feature Modi chatting with Saif Ali Khan and Ranbir Kapoor in a friendly setting. In a touching gesture, Kareena asked the Prime Minister to write a note for her sons, Taimur and Jeh, who couldn’t attend the event. A picture shows Modi writing the note for them.
Other family members, like Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Neetu Kapoor, also shared moments from the memorable meeting, including Modi blessing them.
Kareena expressed her gratitude in the caption, saying, “We are deeply honored to have been invited by the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to celebrate the extraordinary legacy of our grandfather, Raj Kapoor. Thank you for your warmth and support in commemorating this milestone. As we celebrate 100 years of his contribution to Indian cinema, we are proud to share his iconic films through the ‘Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival.’”
The festival will run from December 13-15, 2024, featuring 10 of Raj Kapoor’s timeless classics across 40 cities and 135 cinemas. Films like Aag (1948), Barsaat (1949), Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Sangam (1964), and Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985) will be screened, showcasing his remarkable impact on Indian cinema.
