Patna’s Khan GS Research Centre faces scrutiny over safety and compliance issues following inspection ordered by Patna DM.

In the wake of recent deaths at a coaching center in Delhi, authorities in Patna, Bihar, have intensified inspections of local coaching institutes. Among the centers inspected was Khan Sir’s “Khan GS Research Centre” (Khan Sir Patna Coaching Institute). A team led by Sadar SDO Shrikant Kundlik Khandekar discovered several deficiencies during their investigation.

Under directives from Patna DM Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, coaching institutes are being evaluated on six grounds, including security arrangements and registration. On the first day of inspections, thirty coaching centers were examined.

The investigation at Khan Sir’s Institute revealed multiple flaws. Following the inspection, Khan Sir announced a holiday for his coaching classes and pledged to organize all necessary paperwork for the Sadar SDO.

Shortcomings Found in Coaching Centre

The SDO reported that the number of students attending the coaching exceeded the available space. The institute was asked to present documentation for fire NOC, registration, and other necessary paperwork. The SDO clarified that no immediate action would be taken against any coaching institute; instead, they are being given time to rectify their systems. The next decision will be made at the DM level.

Post-inspection, the Khan GS coaching center has been temporarily closed, and a notice has been posted outside, instructing to halt classes for the day.

The inspection highlighted several key deficiencies:

  • – Inadequate provision for ventilation
  • – Insufficient entry and exit arrangements
  • – Poor seating arrangements
  • – Non-compliance with building bye-laws

These issues have been flagged by the District Administration Committee, which will continue to monitor and enforce improvements across all coaching centers in Patna.
