The Maharashtra government has introduced a fully digital system for stamp duty payments, eliminating the need for physical visits to vendors and government offices. With the approval of the Maharashtra Stamp Bill, citizens can now pay online and receive instant e-stamp certificates.

Key Changes in the New System

Instant e-Stamp Certificates – Once you pay online, you get your stamp certificate immediately.
No Extra Charges – The ₹500 processing fee remains unchanged, with no additional costs.
Physical Stamp Papers Still Available – People who prefer the traditional method can still use paper stamp duty.
Easy Refunds – If you overpay, you will get a refund within 45 days. If you underpay, you must clear the remaining amount promptly.
100% Online Process – No need to visit vendors or government offices for stamp papers or franking.
Simplified Applications – Earlier, submissions were made on plain paper, but now applicants must use ₹1,000 stamp paper for specific submissions.

Why This Matters

Previously, people had to buy physical stamp papers and visit franking centers to complete the process. Even with online payments via e-challan, printed receipts had to be submitted at government offices.

Now, the new system saves time, reduces bureaucracy, and increases transparency, making stamp duty payments in Maharashtra much easier and faster.
