Man Alleges Doctors Operated on His Paralysed Father by Mistake at Kota Hospital
Kota, April 19: A shocking case of alleged medical negligence has come to light at Kota Medical College Hospital, where a man claims that doctors mistakenly performed surgery on his paralysed father instead of him.
The incident involved Manish, who had recently suffered injuries in a road accident and was admitted to the hospital for surgery on Saturday. With no family or friends to help him, he brought his paralysed father along to the hospital. According to Manish, he asked his father to wait outside the operation theatre while he went in for the scheduled procedure.

However, to his horror, when he came out, he discovered that his father had been given 5–6 stitches. “I had asked my father to wait outside. But after my surgery, I found out that he had been operated on instead,” said Manish. Still in recovery, he said he doesn’t remember the doctor’s name and expressed deep concern over the mistake.
Reacting to the complaint, Dr. Sangeeta Saxena, the hospital’s principal, confirmed that a three-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident. “I’ve asked the hospital superintendent to look into the matter and submit a report within 2–3 days,” she said.
The case has raised serious questions about how patients are verified before surgery and the hospital’s overall pre-surgery identification protocols. The error has sparked public concern and calls for stricter safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
