Man Arrested for Trying to Photograph Ram Mandir with Concealed Camera in Glasses
Strict rules are often enforced at religious sites to preserve privacy and security, especially in places like the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. One such rule at the temple is the prohibition of mobile phones and cameras to maintain the sanctity of the space. However, a recent incident raised concerns when a young man attempted to take pictures within the temple using a hidden camera embedded in his spectacles.
The individual, identified as Jani Jaikumar from Vadodara, Gujarat, was arrested by authorities for violating security measures. Reports revealed that he had concealed a camera inside his glasses, intending to capture unauthorized images of the temple’s inner sanctum.
The Ram Mandir complex enforces a strict ban on mobile phones and cameras to protect the privacy of the temple and ensure security. This breach of security has led to questions about the adequacy of safety protocols at such an important religious site.

Security staff at the temple quickly became suspicious when they noticed a light blinking from the young man’s glasses. A police official explained, “He was seen taking pictures using glasses with a camera, and the security team became alert when the camera light turned on.”
The suspect was immediately detained, and it was revealed that the glasses, which featured cameras on both sides and a button for taking photos, were valued at approximately Rs 50,000. SP (Security) Balramachari Dubey commended Anurag Bajpai, an SSF jawan, for his keen observation and quick response in apprehending the individual.
The man, believed to be a businessman, is currently being questioned by authorities and intelligence agencies. This incident has highlighted the need for enhanced security measures at places of worship, particularly those of national significance like the Ram Mandir.
The Ram Mandir, built after a prolonged legal battle, was officially handed over in 2019, with the Supreme Court ruling that the disputed land be used for the construction of a Hindu temple, while also allocating nearby land for a mosque. The temple opened for public darshan just one day after the consecration of Ram Lalla in the sanctum sanctorum on January 22, 2024.
