Man Tries to Jump from Mantralaya Building, Saved by Safety Net
A man attempted to jump off the Mantralaya building—the Maharashtra government headquarters in South Mumbai—on Tuesday. However, he was saved by a safety net placed between the first and second floors.
Police Rescue the Man
A video of the incident, now viral on social media, shows police officers convincing the man to stay calm after he landed on the net. They later pulled him to safety. Officials confirmed that he was not seriously injured.
Reports say the man was carrying pamphlets about a property dispute in Nashik. Authorities have started an investigation to understand why he attempted this act.

Not the First Incident at Mantralaya
This is not the first time someone has tried to jump from the Mantralaya building.
- In October last year, Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal and several legislators jumped onto the safety net while protesting for Dhangar community reservations.
- In 2018, a 45-year-old murder convict, Harshal Raote, jumped from the fifth floor after his parole extension request was denied.
Due to multiple such incidents, some politicians have previously called Mantralaya a “suicide point” and demanded better security.

Safety Measures & Investigation
To prevent such incidents, the safety net was installed in 2018 after several suicide attempts at Mantralaya.
Now, Mumbai Police and government officials are investigating this latest incident and working on ways to improve security and prevent future attempts.
