So far, the numbers displayed on the signal system when driving on Mumbai’s roads have been in English, but on this one signal in Mumbai, Marathi numerals have been noticed, which has startled many people. A video of this signal is becoming viral on social media.

Many people were shocked to see Marathi numbers appear on Mumbai’s traffic signal system, but the reason behind this is also noteworthy. Marathi Language Pride Day was observed throughout the state yesterday. On this occasion, laudatory actions were carried out all around the state. The Mumbai Road Transport Department placed Marathi numbers on the system as part of a unique Marathi language programme. So the road motorists are seen following the same Marathi figures and signal procedures. This video comes from the Shankar Galli locality of Kandivali West in Mumbai. This endeavour wonderfully glorifies the Marathi language.

This video from Mumbai was posted by the Instagram page @Posterboychetanand and the page admin captioned his post, “The laudable initiative of using Marathi numerals in the signal system by Mumbai Road Transport Department means that we must say best wishes to Mumbaikars and Maharashtra on the occasion of Marathi Language Day.”
