Parapet section from under-construction metro pillar crashes onto passing auto on LBS Road; injured rushed to hospital as inquiry begins.

Mumbai: One person was killed and four others were injured on Saturday afternoon after a part of an under-construction metro structure collapsed in Mulund.

The accident took place around 12:15 pm on LBS Road near the Johnson & Johnson facility, when a parapet section from a metro pillar reportedly fell from above onto a passing auto-rickshaw.

Officials said the injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment and remain under observation.

In a statement, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said its staff reached the site immediately and began rescue and safety work. The area is now being secured with help from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and disaster management teams.

Authorities have started an investigation to find out what caused the incident.
