The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has embarked on significant projects in Thane, valued at over six and a half thousand crores, aimed at addressing traffic congestion. Tenders have been issued for the construction of three ambitious projects, reflecting the administration’s commitment to enhancing the technological infrastructure of Mumbai and Thane.

These projects, including the Mone, Metro, Flyover, and Coastal Road, are designed to connect various parts of the cities, contributing to high-tech development. A newly inaugurated two-tier flyover spanning 1.23 km in the Thane direction is set to streamline the Mumbai-Thane journey, eliminating traffic signals and facilitating a non-stop commute.

The completion of the Mankhurd Ghatkopar Link Road and the inauguration of the bridge at Chhedanagar Junction will further enhance traffic flow, reducing delays and improving connectivity.

The Santacruz-Chembur Expressway Expansion Project’s first section, featuring a 3.03 km elevated road from Kurla to Vakola, has been inaugurated as part of the larger initiative to connect the Eastern and Western Expressways.

Additionally, three projects aimed at widening routes and constructing key bridges have received approval, with tenders released for their immediate implementation. The projects include the 13.14 km Balkum to Gaymukh Thane Gulf Coastal Road, the East Freeway Extension from Chhedanagar to Thane, and the Kasarvadvali to Kharbaon Khadi Bridge.

These endeavours align with MMRDA’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, reducing traffic congestion, and ensuring seamless connectivity in Mumbai and Thane.

The projects are expected to contribute significantly to the region’s development, offering commuters a smoother and more efficient travel experience.
