Mumbai Coastal Road Project: Now, commute between Marine Drive-Worli within 7 minutes
Civic officials stated that Coastal Road’s southern side would be linked with Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL) by the end of July and the northern side by October-end.
The third phase of the Dharmaveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road (South) Project was thrown open for motorists on Thursday, July 11.
This 3.5-km-long northbound stretch will allow commuters to travel from Haji Ali to Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Road, Worli and the Haji Ali’s Arm 8 (from Lotus Jetty Junction to the main bridge at Haji Ali on the northbound lane).
With this, it is expected to reduce the peak-hour travel time between Marine Drive and Worli from 30 minutes to less than seven.
This section will be open for traffic from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm.
It will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays to allow for the completion of the remaining project work.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had personally inspected along with Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Dr. Amit Saini and Deputy Commissioner (Special Engineering) Yatin Dalvi.

Here are the diversions:
People headed towards Worli from the southern end of Mumbai can switch to Coastal Road by taking undersea tunnels that start from Marine Lines and drive straight through the arterial corridor.
To travel towards Babulnath or Breach Candy, they can switch towards the mainland by taking the vehicular interchange at Amarsons Garden. Those who want to travel towards Mahalaxmi or Atria Mall can also switch to the mainland by taking the interchange at Haji Ali.
People travelling further north may continue to stay on the road till the Worli interchange, from where they have to exit Coastal Road. Those intending to travel towards the suburbs can take Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Road in Worli and move towards the north by taking the Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL).
