Mumbai Local News: Megablock scheduled on all three routes this Sunday; important information for local travellers

On Sunday, February 11, 2024, Mumbai’s suburban railway network will experience a mega block across three major routes to facilitate track repairs and conduct essential technical works in the signal system. The Central Railway’s Matunga-Thane up-and-down express line, the Harbor Line’s Panvel-Vashi up-and-down line, and the Western Railway’s Santacruz to Goregaon up-down express line will be affected.

Central Railway – Matunga-Thane Up and Down Slow Route

The mega block on the Matunga-Thane slow route is scheduled from 11:05 am to 3:55 pm. During this period, Down Slow Line services departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) will be diverted to the Down Fast Line between Matunga and Thane stations, making stops at various stations. Meanwhile, Up Slow Line services departing from Kalyan will be diverted to the Up Fast Line between Thane and Matunga, with specific stops. Passengers are advised to check the revised schedules and anticipate delays.

Harbor Railway – Panvel-Vashi Up and Down Route

The mega block on the Panvel-Vashi route is set to occur from 11:05 am to 4:05 pm. Services on the Up Harbor route from Panvel to CSMT Mumbai and the Down Harbor route from CSMT to Panvel/Belapur will be cancelled during this period. Similarly, Up Transharbor route services from Panvel to Thane and down-transharbor route services from Thane to Panvel will also be cancelled. A special local train will operate between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai and Vashi to accommodate passengers during the block.

Western Railway – Santacruz to Goregaon Up-Down Express Line

The Western Railway’s mega block from Santacruz to Goregaon on the Up-Down Expressway is scheduled from 10 am to 3 pm. Local services on the up-down fast line will be diverted to the slow line between Santacruz and Goregaon stations, causing specific cancellations and diversions. Passengers travelling on these routes are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and stay informed about any changes to their regular schedules.
