Mumbai records nearly 1,400 epidemic diseases in June
If reports are to be believed, in June last year, 3012 patients of these epidemic diseases were detected.

With the arrival of monsoon, a significant rise is seen in the number of patients affected with epidemic diseases. As many as 1,395 patients have been detected in Mumbai in June. Of the total, most cases have been reported of Gastroenteritis and cold flu.
According to the data released by the Public Health Department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 722 Gastroenteritis patients were detected. Followed by 443 cases of fever, 99 jaundice, 93 dengue, 28 leptospirosis and 10 swine flu patients have been reported. Meanwhile, between January to May 2024, a total number of 5,697 cases of such diseases were reported in Mumbai. Of these, 3,478 are gastro patients and 1,612 are cold and fever patients.
BMC’s executive health officer Daksha Shah said that the civic body had implemented preventive measures from April to curb such diseases. As a result, there has been a decrease in the number of patients in 2024 compared to last year.
If reports are to be believed, in June last year, 3012 patients of these diseases were detected. Among them, there were 1744 patients with Gastroenteritis, 639 cold, 353 dengue, 141 jaundice, 97 leptospirosis, 30 swine flu and 8 chikungunya patients.
