Mumbai: Thane Police Bust Counterfeit Honda Parts Operation, Arrest Two

The Thane Police in Maharashtra have apprehended two individuals involved in the sale of counterfeit Honda spare parts, valued at thousands of rupees.

On receiving a tip-off from the Intellectual Property Enforcement (EIPR) team, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shri S.S. Borse directed an immediate raid on two locations: Mahaveer Automobiles, Shop No. 4, Heera Mahal, LBS Road, Naupada, and New Priya Automobiles, Shop Nos. 3 & 4, Laxmi Mahal Building, Near Satkar Hotel, Naupada.

The operation, led by Assistant Police Inspector Mangesh Bhange and his team from Naupada Police Station, resulted in the seizure of counterfeit parts from both premises. The goods were confiscated and have been estimated to be worth several thousand rupees.

The accused have been identified as Raunak Shantilal Bhid, aged 35, from Mahaveer Automobiles, and Prakash Gopichand Lohia, aged 60, from New Priya Automobiles. Both individuals have been arrested, and a case has been filed under FIR No. 0870/2024, citing Sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act at Thane Police Station. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
