Mumbai’s economy to cross the trillion-dollar mark by 2028-29: Devendra Fadnavis
Maharashtra will reach its aspirational target of having a trillion-dollar economy by 2028–2029, but Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Monday that a revitalization of Mumbai is essential to the progress and expansion of India. According to him, the extensive infrastructure projects will change Mumbai’s appearance, making it more affordable and livable and transforming it into a city of dreams.
At BKC in Mumbai, Fadnavis introduced the Mumbai Megapolis Metaverse, the biggest use of Metamerse in urban governance globally.
During an interactive session following his announcement of plans and projects for the nation’s financial capital, Fadnavis emphasised the importance of infrastructure in providing Hyderabad and Bengaluru with a competitive advantage in the technology sector, both in terms of employment and investments. He claimed that, in the tech industry, Mumbai continues to be the nation’s startup capital, followed by Pune.
In reaffirming his government’s commitment to finishing a 375-kilometer metro project, Fadnavis stated, “The underground tunnels will serve a twin purpose of operating cars/buses and metro rails to ensure east and west connectivity in the MMR.”
He emphasised that the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTNL), also known as Atal Setu, is a game-changer that, coupled with Navi Mumbai and an international airport, has created a third city—three times larger than Mumbai—a reality. According to Fadnavis, the Coastal Road’s finished first phase would shortly be opened.
According to Fadnavis, the ongoing initiatives would guarantee the fastest connectivity in addition to helping to relieve traffic in Mumbai. According to him, the goal was to guarantee that everyone arrived at their destination in less than fifty-nine minutes.
He said that when the metro network is operational, up to nine million passengers will be able to commute in nearly the same amount of time as the current local train network.
