In a big move for the Indian film industry, Maharashtra is set to build its third-largest film city in Nagpur district. The announcement was made by Ashish Shelar, Maharashtra’s IT Minister, who shared plans for the film city near Ramtek. Spread across 128 acres, the land for this project will soon be officially transferred, with a proposal being sent to the district collector within 15 days.

This new film city will be the first in Vidarbha and second in Maharashtra, after Mumbai’s Film City. It aims to boost film production in the region and create jobs. A consultant will be appointed to make sure the project is successful, bringing a fresh boost to Maharashtra’s film industry.

Why Ramtek?

Ramtek is a beautiful and historic area surrounded by forests and lakes. According to legends, Lord Rama stayed here during his exile, adding to its cultural importance.

The area is also home to popular tourist spots like:

  • Ramtek Fort and Ram Temple
  • Totladoh and Pench Dam
  • Nagardhan Fort
  • Pench Jungle

With such scenic locations, this film city will give artists in central India an alternative to traveling all the way to Mumbai for shoots. Plus, the area has great facilities for adventure sports, making it a perfect spot for filmmakers.

What About Chikhaldara?

Chikhaldara, another stunning hill station, is also a popular filming destination. Many leaders are pushing for a film city there too, as it’s often called the “paradise of Vidarbha.”

With both Ramtek and Chikhaldara in focus, Maharashtra is looking to expand its film industry, bringing more opportunities for filmmakers and local talent.
