Progress on Navi Mumbai Airport

  • Located in Ulwe, the 1,160-hectare airport is 85% complete and has already conducted successful test flights.
  • It will be able to serve 90 million passengers per year and handle 2.6 million tonnes of cargo.
  • A Mumbai Metro link between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and Navi Mumbai Airport is planned to improve connectivity.

  • Shirdi Airport Upgrade: Night landing facilities will be introduced to improve operations.
  • Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: The bullet train station in Mumbai will be near Vadhvan Port.

Mumbai Airport Terminal 1 Renovation

  • Terminal 1 of CSMIA will be closed for renovation starting November 2025.
  • The upgrade will increase its capacity by 42%, allowing it to handle 20 million passengers annually by 2029.
  • During the renovation, passengers will use Terminal 2 and Navi Mumbai Airport instead.

These developments aim to boost Mumbai’s aviation infrastructure and improve travel convenience for passengers.
